Chicago, Illinois
Check out Chicago’s - The Soul Side of the Windy City - tour. The guide hosts a 2 ½ hours lively narrative of more than 30 locations in Chicago. You will see Bronzeville, Oprah Winfrey’s studio, DuSable Museum, Underground Railroad stations, Michael Jordan’s statue, famous homes and restaurants, blues and jazz clubs, Operation PUSH, the site of Joe Louis’ championship and much more.
Did you know that Joe Louis "the Brown Bomber" enlisted in the US Army in 1942? While stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, he met Jackie Robinson (the first African American baseball player in the major league), and they remained lifetime friends. Louis fought nearly 100 exhibitions before two million servicemen.
We noted several military soldiers honoring our black heritage during the tour, also.
The tours depart from downtown hotels daily at 9:00 am, noon, and 3:00 pm. Reservations are required (24-hours recommended).
